Point of View is... “the perspective from which a narrative is told” “the lens through which a reader sees a story” “shown through the narration, or telling of a story, not the dialogue of characters”

Here’s a trick to help you with POINT OF VIEW: When playing a board game, you should take turns. I go FIRST. (person, right?) You go SECOND. (person, again.) He goes THIRD. (person. See what I did there?)

How does a reader know? First person (narrator is a character) I, me, my Second person (directions or instructions) You Third person He, she, names --Omniscient (many characters’ feelings) --Limited (one character’s feelings) --Objective (only shares dialogue and action)

PRONOUNS! * word used to replace or refer to a noun *antecedent (word the pronoun refers to) *different kinds of pronouns (different uses) BE CLEAR WHEN USING PRONOUNS!

Pronoun Rules *Agree with antecedent in gender and number *Use the correct case (kind) subject =I object =me possessive =my reflexive =myself *Indefinite pronouns agree with pronoun/verb Somebody needs to move his car.

Pronoun Rules again *Who is a subject pronoun Who is going to the concert? Write down the name of whoever finishes first. *Whom is an object pronoun To whom are you giving the award? *Know when to use I and me!
