1 Lesson 64 Pronouns & Antecedents When you use a pronoun in a sentence, it has to match, or “agree” with the person it’s referring to. When you use a pronoun in a sentence, it has to match, or “agree” with the person it’s referring to. My brother lost baseball mitt. My brother lost HIS baseball mitt. The pronoun is HIS. Who does HIS refer to? The pronoun is HIS. Who does HIS refer to? is the antecedent, the thing that came before it. My brother is the antecedent, the thing that came before it.

2 Making Pronouns & Antecedents Agree My sisters lost __________ backpacks. My uncle crashed _________ car. Your mom wore ________ new dress.
