LTE Interference of user equipment? This question is not a simple one! 26 June 2012A study of LTE interference potential / APWPT proposal2 The LTE UE....is completely controlled by the base station and..will be reconfigured up to 1000 time/s  This is the real life scenario. In the lab test this can’t be simple reproduced  Misinterpretations are highly possible.

Lab test versus reality 26 June 2012A study of LTE interference potential / APWPT proposal3 A modification of a single parameter varies the interference potential at 863 MHz by >10 dB  Constant resource assignment Dynamic resource assignment 

To see in the LTE cell environment: LTE UE interference power in the UHF duplex gap 822 to 832 MHz 26 June 2012A study of LTE interference potential / APWPT proposal4 Interfering transients / ~-17 dBm @ 832 MHz RBW = 10MHz RBW = 300kHz All signals reduced by approx. 23 dB due to measuring arrangements used

To see in the LTE cell environment: LTE UE interference power in the UHF range above 862 MHz 26 June 2012A study of LTE interference potential / APWPT proposal5 Interfering transients / ~-20dBm @ 865 MHz RBW = 10MHz RBW = 300kHz All signals reduced by approx. 23 dB due to measuring arrangements used

Observed Interference intensity to PMSE operated in the duplex gap 26 June 2012A study of LTE interference potential / APWPT proposal6 > 40 dB -115 dBm = protection level of PMSE

Norwegian test results provided by Bjørn Johnny Valsgård (2012) 26 June 2012A study of LTE interference potential / APWPT proposal7

Austrian field test (2011) 26 June 2012A study of LTE interference potential / APWPT proposal8 RMS Interference level / ~-15dBm @ 862 MHz

Proposal 26 June 2012A study of LTE interference potential / APWPT proposal9 1. It is proposed to consider the results of the measurement campaign in the ongoing SE24_WI41 and WI42 studies. 2. We invite SE24 to seek guidance from WGSE in this matter. We highly believe that the measurement results need to be investigated in more detail as the out-of-band emissions of LTE UE can disrupt systems and application in adjacent channels seriously.

How to get further information? 26 June 2012A study of LTE interference potential / APWPT proposal10 1. Lab test setup / DKE working group 731.0.8 matthias.fehr@apwpt.org 2. PMSE manufacturer representative at APWPT wolfgang.bilz@apwpt.org
