1 FOCUS ON MISSIONS Reaching near and far for God’s kingdom Update from Rev. Lu, General Director, COCM Dear mission partners, In October, the historic visit of Chinese President Xi Jinping to the UK was arguably the biggest news. One can feel a strong sense of national pride that permeated the Chinese community in the UK. As Chinese immigrants, we all like to see our home country to take a centre stage in world affairs and be respected. With China gaining greater economic power, a stronger tie between China and the UK means that more Chinese will come to the UK for tourism, business and education. This presents both a challenge and an opportunity for the British and Chinese churches in the UK. We pray that God will continue to grant us wisdom and resources to face the challenge ahead. For many years, COCM has been in the forefront of supporting the Chinese churches in their effort to reach out to the influx of Chinese new comers. On 10th October, I was honoured to participate in the new church building dedication service for Swansea Chinese Christian Church (SCCC). God has been faithful and has called upon servants from near and far, including COCM workers, to support the continuation of its ministry. It was encouraging to see the number of new Christians in the church greatly increased and in the right time, God provided a beautiful old church building for SCCC. I pray that more Chinese will come to Christ, new believers will grow and mature, and together we will take pride in living as citizens of the heavenly kingdom. Serving together in Christ Rev Henry Lu, General Director Welcome! We are glad that you have chosen to worship the Lord with us. If you are a first time guest, we want to especially welcome you.
