Studies This Week … Reverse proton studies: - Debuncher apertures measured – H=35.2pi, V=34.9pi – very good! - More running wave measurements to identify aperture restrictions - Acc to Deb transfer efficiency & apertures Stacking Studies: - IPM measurements of cooling rates in Debuncher transverse systems - New emittance monitor calibration constants added. - Trying out our Accumulator horizontal damper – so far it functions well. - H & V beam sizes vs Debuncher cooling time - Emittance monitor cal check with Pbars

4. Repairs & Tuning Activities … Started running 2.2s cycle times this week. Lots of routine tuning to improve stacking and efficiency. Broken board in AP2 BPM system found and repaired D:SEXDI (sextupole defocusing) supply off due to bad local/remote switch Problems earlier in week with core emittance blowups – horizontal damper now working and no further problems PLC communication problems interfering with core momentum system gating off during transfers – this was why some shots earlier this week required 5 or 6 transfers to empty stack instead of only 3. Core vertical emittance monitor oscillator frequency incorrect due to 10MHz reference missing. A bad cable connection was the problem. P1-P2-AP1-AP2 beamline tuner (‘Overthruster’) fixed. Controls issues with Debuncher intensity monitor and SEMs fixed. Lots of work on Debuncher cooling. Worked on Accumulator extraction aperture – lambertson move and kicker voltages (so far). Lost D:TOR910 (AP3 line) – repaired more bad cable connections.

5. Study Requests … Need to commission new skew quadruple magnet A:SQ107 (small stack, parasitic) Stacktail momentum static distribution measurements (no stacking, 15 minutes) Complete characterization of all Debuncher cooling systems (1 shift, no stacking) Redo Accumulator vertical emittance monitor calibration measurements due to oscillator problem (reverse protons, 1.5 hr clean machine)
