4 PURPOSE To provide resources, support, and experiences that build facilitation skills and increase confidence for teachers to lead meetings, present workshops, and/or facilitate TLC activities.

5 MAGNETIC QUESTIONS Consider each of these questions: What knowledge and skills does an effective facilitator have? How is the role of a facilitator different from that of a presenter or group leader? What are the advantages & disadvantages of working as an internal vs. external facilitator? What skills do I already possess that I can transfer into the role of facilitator?  Which question intrigues you the most?

15 1.Collaboratively chunk the text to be read. 2.Designate a conversation initiator for each chunk. 3.Everyone reads the first chunk. 18 Characteristics of Effective Facilitators Read through the list of characteristics on p. 12-13. Round robin style, individually share “what comes up for you” without comments or discussion from others. Once everyone has shared, briefly discuss what you noticed.

19 Taking Stock of Your Strengths Using the Personal Strengths Template, reflect on and record your strengths. After reviewing all of them, consider the following: + Which are a strong suit for me?  Which are growth areas for me? ? Which do I need to clarify?
