2. The Cochrane Library brings together research on the effectiveness of healthcare treatments and interventions. Produced by The Cochrane Collaboration, a not-for- profit organisation whose aim is to improve healthcare worldwide, The Cochrane Library is the ‘gold standard’ in Evidence-Based Health Care and provides access to the highest quality, independent information on existing and new healthcare interventions. It is based on the practice of evidence based medicine. The Cochrane Library consists of seven databases and is used by a broad range of people interested in Evidence-Based Health Care, including consumers, clinicians, policy-makers, researchers, educators and students.

14. Cochrane Podcasts summarise and discuss the latest Cochrane Reviews through interviews with Cochrane authors. The Cochrane Library launched the podcast programme in January 2008 and now hosts over 200 podcast summaries. The podcasts are aimed at everyone interested in Cochrane Reviews, and have been written with non- professional listeners in mind. 15. Cochrane Journal Club is a free, monthly publication started by The Cochrane Library in 2009. 16. The Cochrane Collaboration’s Evidence Aid project was established following the tsunami in the Indian Ocean in December 2004. Evidence Aid highlights evidence from The Cochrane Library showing which interventions work, which don’t work and which might be harmful. The information is aimed at disaster relief agencies and people planning for, and responding to, disasters.
