4 Where Do Students Learn eHealth Competencies? Practice Department specific software Academic & Practice Vendor specific principles Academic Sector - application Generic system (Electronic Health Records) Academic Sector - theory Ethics, privacy, professional behaviour Computer literacy & Computer basics

5 5 A joint initiative of VCH, PHSA, and PHC CST Design and Configuration 1. Design teams are using a model system (base Cerner content). 2. Working with subject matter experts from the health authorities to configure the system to our needs across VCH, PHSA, and PHC. 3. Have requested academic representation in design phase and will be exploring avenues for involvement via the Student Readiness Working Group.

7 7 CST Learning Team Update: Hiring is underway for educators and curriculum designers. Planning is underway with Group 1 (Coastal Implementation). The curriculum design methodology will be created in the next few months with a release schedule on what content and eLearning modules can be released and shared with staff and students in advance The training timeline commences 6 weeks before a go-live and runs for 4 weeks post a go-live for some groups.

8 8 A joint initiative of VCH, PHSA, and PHC Informatics Competencies Two components – Foundational Literacy and Informatics Competencies Focused on Entry to Practice for Existing Staff Informatics Competencies Based Canadian Association of Schools of Nursing and Canadian Pharmacies Entry to Practice Documents Foundational Literacy and General Informatics Competencies the responsibility of the Health Organizations Feedback on Draft can be sent to Shelley Fraser at Shelley.Fraser2@vch.ca

9 9 A joint initiative of VCH, PHSA, and PHC First Sites to Go Live Site implementation planning is progressing well, with CST team members working closely with the implementation Group One (Sea-to- Sky/North Shore including Lions Gate Hospital), with “go live” targeted for the spring of 2017. Health Authorities will be reaching out to schools who have placed students at the go-live sites over the past two years to develop strategies for practice education placements during implementation in 2017.
