Topics to be covered… What is Network topology? Types of Network topology Bus topology Mesh topology Star topology Ring topology Hybrid topology Conclusion … Lets jump on the presentation, shall we?? CSE101 LAB PRESENTATION 3

What is Network Topology ?? Network topology are the physical layout of the network that the locations of the computers and how the cable is run between them. It is important to use the right topology because each topology has its own strengths and weakness CSE101 LAB PRESENTATION 4

Basic categories of Network Topology Physical topology Device location and cables placement Geometric location of workstations Logical topology How data flows within a network throughout the physical design CSE101 LAB PRESENTATION 5

Bus Topology  Each node is connected to a single cable  The central cable is the backbone of the network known as the ‘Bus’  Low cost because of single cable implementation  But bit of high cost in managing network CSE101 LAB PRESENTATION 6

Mesh Topology  It is also called point-to-point connection  Each device here are connected to one another  Not in LAN but it is widely used in WAN  Easy to troubleshoot but difficult to install and configure CSE101 LAB PRESENTATION 7

Ring Topology  A network topology in a circular fashion with a closed loop  Data travels around the ring in one direction  Every device acts as a repeater to keep the signal strong as it travels CSE101 LAB PRESENTATION 8

Star Topology  It’s a point-to-point network connection  Here, each host is connected to a central node called hub, router or the switch  The switch is the server and the peripherals are the clients  Star shape is not necessary but every node here must be connected to central device CSE101 LAB PRESENTATION 9

Hybrid Topology  It is basically a combination of two or more topologies  Hybrid network established when two or more different topologies are prevailed One common example is, star-bus or star-ring topologies CSE101 LAB PRESENTATION 10

Conclusion  Essential to know because to understand how the data works within a network  To find out the advantages and disadvantages as per user need  To discover the network difficulties with choosing appropriate network topology CSE101 LAB PRESENTATION 11
