Final Project: Save the Animals Teodora Stanciu Critical Literacy Fall 2013c

My Personality Have always loved animals Dreaming about opening animal shelter Once you decide to have a pet, you need to commit to it They need to feel belonged and loved

What do Animals Need? Different animals need different environments Example: Wild animals in a ZOO Only positive for viewers and the ZOO itself

Purpose of This Project Inform people about lost animals Make people care more about their pets Help hurt animals when having the chance to Decrease the gap between human and animal worth

Hungarian Initiative A Hungarian homepage that finds animals in bad shape and puts them back on their feet They do; check-up, feeding, and create adoption opportunities Have programs for non-employees to attend and help Missing on page: Wild animal rescue My biggest interest in this area: Let wild animals live free in the wilderness Maybe a future place for me to help www.feherkeresztliga.hu

My Research This Semester Researched many different homepages during our class periods Took notes and saved links for the best ones Outside class opinions from peers Witnessed many dead animals on and outside Gardner-Webb’s campus Questions for the future: Reasons for dying and how can they be saved?

Inputs From My Mother Some places spray the trees to protect their fruits and berry's; can cause death for animals when eating Important to remember: Animals do get old like humans, natural death occurs Gave me hope for some animals who lived a long happy life.

TED Video: A New Perspective David Gallo discussed underwater life I used to dive a lot in younger age and saw many different types of fishes Gallo described fishes that I have never heard about and that sounded very interesting New perspective: Want to contact diving friends back home and ask about dangers for underwater species

Treating Animals Correctly Animals are not human property Should be viewed as a non-human person We pay for our animals; but they should be free and not for sale Acquiring animal rights would prohibit people from owning and using animals

Interview Cont. People who views animals as property are selfish, have greed, and see humans as superior People need to stop wearing animals as their clothes and eat them. Important to educate people about animal cruelty and getting people involved

Interview With Vegetarian Do you like animals and do you have any? - I love animals, i have two cats Do you eat animal meat? - I do not, I am a vegetarian, I don’t like the taste of it. Why should we not eat meat? - Put yourself in an animals perspective - They have to kill animals so someone can have their dinner - Some research say meat is not necessary for the human body

Interview With Non-Vegetarian Do you like animals and do you have any? - I like them and my family own some chickens Do you eat animal meat? - Yes, I love meat and I need the nutrition because being an athlete Would you consider supplements instead of eating animal meat? - I do not think so, I cannot imagine a better source of nutrition for an athlete.
