4 4 Course Overview and objectives Course talks of Management of Information Systems…so what needs to be managed? Three parts  Hardware [the brains & body]  Software [the process put into code that takes inputs and makes outputs…includes graphical output and various forms of input]  Information Resources [inputs at rest & the outputs] Data, Information, and Knowledge Information resources are why we have IS in the first place Hardware and Software get us there

6 6 Course Overview and objectives  Regardless of your discipline, you need to understand MIS For MIS majors, organizations need MIS people to consult, build, buy, operate, and maintain For non-MIS majors, you need to understand MIS to have a fair chance when relying with MIS folks when making and managing those expensive & risky decisions

10 10 Project Works The students will be divided into groups. Every group is required to submit the project assignment paper. However, there will be two or three groups each time selected by turn to present the project work. The project work score is broken down into  1) Report (70%) and  2) Presentation (30%) or Q&A
