2 LOCATION The Amazon Rainforest is in Brazil which is in South America. Interestingly there are rainforests in South America, Central America, Africa, Asia and Australasia. Amazingly, it holds the Amazon River which we will be talking about later … The Amazon Rainforest is in Brazil which is in South America. 3 Layers In the Amazon Rainforest there are four main layers. The first one is called the forest floor which contains plants and insects. Secondly, is the understory this is where tigers jaguars and snakes live. Now comes the canopy this is where birds, parrots, spider monkeys and other types of monkeys live, the canopy is also like a big umbrella. Lastly, is the emergent layer which butterflies live in. 5 There are many different species in the Amazon Rainforest such as birds, spider monkey, pink river dolphin, leopards, jaguars and many more. The pink River Dolphin lives in the Amazon River. Also the spider monkey lives in the canopy as well as birds and butterflies. A jaguar lives in the in the understorey and there are lots more animals that live in the Amazon Rainforest. 6 Tribes Interestingly, there are not just animals in the Amazon Rainforest, there are people these people are called tribes. Tribes have lived in the Amazon for over a hundred years they don’t live in brick houses like us, they live in wooden houses that they have made. They don’t know any different, the Amazon is like a house to them like our houses are to us. Also, Tribes make instruments with animals skins.
