2 Question 2 Explain the ethical dilemmas depicted by the main characters - Jared Cohen (Simon Baker), John Tudd (Jeremy Irons), Sam Rogers (Kevin Spacey) and Eric Dale (Stanley Tucci). Explain the conflict faced, resolution principles and the ethical theories and reasoning that explain the actions of each character.

3 Jared Cohen Conflict faced: whether he should be on the same board with John to sell all the assets by that day or not. Resolution principles: care-based Ethical theories and reasoning: Egoism principles

4 John Tuld Conflict faced: whether to sell the entire assets to save the company, or he has to loss the company if he decided vice versa. Resolution principles: care-based Ethical theories and reasoning: Egoism principles

5 Sam Rogers Conflict faced: whether to follow John’s decision for selling all the majority of MBS’s assets to avoid the losses projected by the company. Resolution principles: end-based, rule-based Ethical theories and reasoning: Utilitarian principles

6 Eric Dale Conflict faced: whether to return back to the company after being fired or not. Resolution principles: Rule-based Ethical theories and reasoning: Egoism principles

7 Question 3 Was any character in the movie concerned with corporate social responsibility? Explain in detail.

8 CSR is means by taking responsibility for the company’s effects on the environment and impact on social welfare. Found through the character of Trading Floor Manager, Sam Rogers. Example:  Sam’s concern on the firm’s future including the staff.  He disagree when John decided to sold the asset even though he knew that the asset has no value.  This will kill the market and people would stop buying in future.

9 Question 4 What part did corporate governance play in the events depicted in the movie? How was Sarah Robertson (Demi Moore) involved in this? Explain.

10 Corporate Governance Scene: Meeting between Sam and John Tuld In this scene, Sam told John to be honest to the traders and not selling the no value asset to the traders. The decision also will effect the worker.

11 Sarah’s Roles in CG The roles is not clear The only scene that she was involved is when Jared ask her to calculate the value of the asset. However, it is still unclear whether she was involved or not. The other scene of her part is not related to CG
