Offer Versus Serve (OVS) Allows students to decline certain number of food components Goal is to minimize plate waste

OVS Lunch Only senior high schools required to have OVS for lunch Can choose whether or not to implement OVS at junior high, middle, and elementary schools Must take a minimum ½ cup of either the fruit or vegetable component

Lunch OVS Offer all five required components

OVS Lunch Selection May or may not decline two of the five components A minimum of one half-cup of either the fruit, vegetable, or fruit/vegetable Fruit/vegetable 2 out of 3 components one must be a full serving Set at a single price for 3, 4, or 5 components

Can take smaller portions of the fruit vegetable components only (must select minimum ½ cup) Full portion of meat/meat alternate, grains, fluid milk or does not count as a required component Fruit or vegetable ⅛ cup minimum creditable serving OVS Smaller Portions

Create a Lunch Meal Activity Introduce yourself. Navigate around the room until you have created a reimbursable Offer Versus Serve lunch meal. Remember, you do not need to include all 5 components for a reimbursable lunch meal.
