3 Modularization  What is the feasibility of combining the 2 and 4-year applications?  How can we make essay submission smoother?  How can we make the process of applying for scholarships more integrated with the application for admission?

4 Modularization – Year One  2009-2010 cycle (July of 2008)  The application had three modules 1.The application for admission module 2.The scholarship module 3.The essay module  Year one changes only felt by 4-year schools

5 Modularization – Year One  Fall 2008 – 24,425 freshman scholarship apps submitted and 603 transfer  Fall 2009 – 48,345 freshman scholarship apps submitted and 2314 transfer

6 Modularization – Year Two  2010 - 2011 app cycle – (summer, 2009)  Application sections will be divided into modules  Administrator sets up app by selecting all required modules + optional modules  Profile, Biographical Information, Educational Information, Test Score Information, Residency, Extracurricular Activities, and so on  Impacts COMMUNITY COLLEGES (all modules are still required on 4-year app)

8 Residency Determination  Residency will be determined using the rules set out in the Texas Administrative Code Title 19, Part 1, Chapter 21, Subchapter B. 9 Residency Determination

10 DOE race/ethnicity  Department of Education REPORTING requirement beginning with fall 2010  Change to a two-part question with the potential for the applicant to indicate more than one race/ethnicity code  Applicants may elect not to answer this question (just as they may currently)

14 H.S. Counselor Tools  Allow counselors to track if their students have completed applications  2008-2009 pilot with region 13  206 counselors from 45 high schools accessed the system in 2008-2009  Applicants and colleges/universities can opt out

15 H.S. Counselor Tools  New cycle app requires use of the high school code lookup (education background module) - should see increase in nbrs of apps counselors are able to see  2009-2010 production implementation plan  CB rep will contact regions to begin process of authorizing counselors from other regions  ApplyTexas technical team will work with 1 rep from each of the 20 regions to get counselors authorized

16 Other Changes  New question: military/veteran status  Additional income increments on the family income question ($80,000 and up has been divided up)  Visa Information Page (intl apps) has a pull-down of common visa types
