4. 4 Purpose of Insurance The purpose of Chapter insurance is to protect the Chapter and its leaders from liability for 3 rd party claims arising out of Chapter activities This insurance is not intended to financially support the costs from internal governance disputes that chapters may encounter –Chapters and their leaders are expected to be able to work together to resolve any such disputes in an efficient and cooperative manner, without resorting to litigation. Disputes of this kind that are submitted as claims under the Chapters’ insurance policy will increase the insurance premium cost, the retention amount, and even threaten the continued availability of this type of insurance for Chapters. PMI has introduced the Chapter Conflict Resolution/Mediation process to support chapters globally that are experiencing governance issues. –Chapters are required to utilize this process before filing complaints with PMI’s Ethics Review Committee or taking further action such a litigation to address governance issues. 6. 6 What is General Liability Insurance? Protection for the organization against claims of damage and/or injury caused by the insured in the course of business. General Liability Insurance covers: o Bodily Injury o Medical Expenses o Property Damage o Personal Injury o Advertising Injury o Fire Damage Liability Insurance Overview

7. 7 What is Director’s and Officer’s Liability Insurance? Protection for the organization and its leaders against claims arising out of the business of the organization. Claims Director’s and Officer’s (D&O) Liability Insurance covers, include but are not limited to: o Bad Faith o Discrimination o Negligence o Personal Injury (i.e. slander, defamation, etc.) o Violation of antitrust and other government laws Insurance Overview

8. 8 Insurance Needs and Cost PMI Finance and Legal Departments evaluate and examine exposure to risk annually. CLA Insurance Company (Broker) works with PMI to identify the coverage needed for PMI chapters. Insurance is: o Becoming more difficult to buy o Premiums are more expensive o Exclusions and restrictions are becoming more common Insurance Overview

10. 10 Event Checklist Form Required for PMI and Broker internal tracking. Help PMI and Broker determine if additional coverage is required.
