4. Background Nuclear Institute of Medicine & Radiotherapy (NIMRA) Jamshoro is a comprehensive healthcare facility for diagnosis, treatment and research of all the cancer types.

5. Cancer incidence has increased in our country Pakistan. Data on the assessment of the cancer incidencewould providewith the justification to establish, implement and monitor the cancer control programs

6. Objective: To assess the incidence of top 10 cancers. Place: Nuclear Institute of Medicine & Radiotherapy (NIMRA), Jamshoro, Pakistan.Nuclear Institute of Medicine & Duration of study: 4 years (Jan. 2009 to Jan. 2013). Study design: Hospital-based retrospective study.

7. Material & Methods The study of cancer patients registered at NIMRA Jamshoro was conducted for 4 years period. Total 8,859 patients were included in the study. Patients of all ages were included.

8. Results Among total 8,859 cancer patients, males accounted for 3,795 (42.84%) and females for 5,064 (57.16%). The mean age at presentation for males was 50±9 and for females were 46±8 years. Some cases (2%) were from children age group (1 to 15 years).

13. Conclusion Overall cancer incidence in four years showed that head and neck cancers were most common in both genders, which were most common among tobacco / gutka chewers. The lung cancer was most common among chronic smokers.

14. Conclusion liver cancer among patients with chronic hepatitis C and/or B. Breast cancer was most common in pre and postmenopausal, while gynaecological tumours (cervical & ovarian) in postmenopausal women.

15. Conclusion We have a significant cancer burden and rising trends of risk factors. Our results alarm to initiate the Cancer Control Programs to decrease the cancer incidence in our region.
