Choose ‘Register’ again and then you will be asked to accept the terms and conditions as well as the following questions: -Title: Mr/ Miss / Ms -Gender: Male / Female -First/given name(s): 名 -Surname/family name: 姓 -Date of Birth -Whether you have applied in previous years: Choose ‘I have neither of the above’ if not -Postal Address: Choose ‘Non UK / International’ and then the details

6 How do I apply? Continued… -Telephone numbers -Email address -Create a password Then, you will get a username. * Please make a note of your username as well as password, as no one else knows them! **Please make sure that your postal address and email are accurate and always updated.

After logging in, you will be asked -How are you applying? - Choose ‘As an individual’ -Do you live outside the United Kingdom? – Yes You will then be given a Personal ID which is a ten-digital number. Keep a note of this as you will need to quote it when you contact UCAS helpline or the University.

8 How do I apply? Now, you can complete your online application, which consists of the following sections: -Personal Details -Choices -Education -Employment -Statement -Reference -Declaration -Payment

9 How do I apply? Personal Details -Title, Gender, First/given name(s), Surname/family name – already recorded -Preferred first name, Previous surname at 16 th birthday – left them blank if you do not have -Postal address - already recorded, change if necessary. This is the address you prefer to receive all the posts -Is your permanent home in the UK? - No -Home address – where you may live during vacations -Home telephone number – 008621 ********

10 How do I apply? Personal Details -Mobile number – 0086139******** -Email address – make sure it is complete, accurate and updated -Confirm email address – type in the same email address again -Date of birth – already recorded -Country of birth – China -Date of first entry to UK – 26 September 2016 if having never been living in the UK before (this excludes your visit to UK as a tourist) -Nationality – Chinese -Dual Nationality – leave it blank

11 How do I apply? Personal Details -Area of permanent residence – China -Residential category – Other -Reference numbers – leave them blank if not having any -Fee code – 01 Private Finance -Mailings from UCAS – tick if you would like to receive mailings -Nominated access – leave them blank if you do not want or need -Criminal convictions – Ignore it if you have not any -Disability/Special needs – See list, select accordingly, such as ‘No disability’ -Passport details – you must fill in this section Click on ‘section completed’ and then SAVE!!

12 How do I apply? Choices -Click on ‘Add a choice’ and then put in the details -Institution code – N84 for the University of Nottingham -Course code – C200 for BSc Plant Science / J700 for BSc Biotechnology -Campus code – Click on ‘See list’ and select ‘Main Site (-)’ -Start date – September 2016 -Further details – leave it blank -Live at home? - No -Point of entry – 2 Click on ‘save’!!

13 How do I apply? Choices -Click on ‘Add a choice’ again if you want to apply to another course Please do not forget to ‘save’ for each course applied!! When making all the choices, Click on ‘section completed’ and then SAVE!!

14 How do I apply? Education -Click on ‘Add new school/college’ -School or college name – Tick ‘Find’, put in ‘Shanghai Jiaotong University’ and then search, click on ‘My school/centre is not listed here’ / ‘Other’. Then you will be able to put in Shanghai Jiaotong University as your answer to this question -Exam centre number – leave it blank -When did you start – September 2014 -And finish? – June 2016 (??) -Attendance – Full-time -Did you/will you receive any formal qualification – Yes if so Don’t forget to SAVE!!

15 How do I apply? Education -Click on ‘Add new school/college’ again if you need NOTE: some courses may require you to present high school grades (mathematics etc) Please do not forget to ‘save’ for each school/college!! When finishing, Click on ‘section completed’ and then SAVE!!

16 How do I apply? Employment -Ignore this section if you have not worked before, but you will still need to Click on ‘section completed’ and then SAVE!!

17 How do I apply? Personal Statement -Click on ‘guide to writing your personal statement’ and read it carefully! -You may start writing now in a word document and then paste to your UCAS application -Up to 47 lines / 4000 characters allowed. -You may make a note that you are coming from the SJTU scheme -No example ready for you to copy. You MUST write up your own statement!! Click on ‘Preview’ and then ‘section completed’ and SAVE!!

18 How do I apply? Reference -One reference will be required here Click on ‘Preview’ and then ‘section completed’ and SAVE!!

19 How do I apply? View all details -This is where you can double check on all the information provided to each section. Make sure that they are all accurate and updated. Once all the sections are marked as complete, you will be asked to agree to the declaration. After agreeing, you will be able to Pay/Send your application(s)

20 How do I apply? Payment Options -Provide credit card (Visa or MasterCard) details online Note: If you do not hold a credit card, you may use someone else’s card but make sure you seek permission with the cardholder in advance. Otherwise, your application might be cancelled.
