3 8 Pillar Model of Community Support The 8 Pillars Model builds the resilience of people with dementia and their carers to enable them to live in the community for as long as possible Each factor of the illness influences every other factor, and impacts on the overall health and wellbeing of the individual and their carer Excess disability is created when people with dementia do not receive appropriate care and treatment for the symptoms of the illness
