1 ANL Worksop Impressions The facility is really nice, with office space (Duke has one), printer, video connection, etc… The jamboree format (and the confined space) allows people to interact a lot, that is very good. At 10am there were usually an informal presentation followed by comment/discussion (TAG, Met, Trigger, etc…) The maximum profit can be made if one works on the same/similar subjet/problem than other participant (or even better if one want to start working on those topics) Overall a very positive and productive experience

2 Update on Cosmic Data Able to run over multiple runs. Statistics is not an issue Well… it is an issue! Errors on residuals scale with N. Infinite precision with infinite statistics Need to establish a goal for the alignment resolution Plan: Show we can correct for a misalignment detector (using MC) Show that our method converges Align cosmic data on the degree of freedom we are sensitive to Once this is done, look at the weak mode and at what we can do about it

3 Richard Work Goal: Compare the TRT efficiency and noise with the MC Need to be sure differences between data and MC tracks are small enough to claim a fair comparison (cut on chi2, long tracks, …) Since an absolute efficiencies are difficult to define, we concentrate on relative efficiencies (shape vs. distance vs. TOT, etc…). Same thing for noise studies Plan: Wrap up what we have and put in a note.

4 CSC data Christian Schmitt provided me an empty macro to run over CSC data. I added the calls to the alignment code As expected it required some time to make it works, but finally I was able to run the code without crashes !! (and the main problem was not Wouter code) The sample is a special generation of multimuons (about 7 per events) ideal for alignment study Need to retune our tools (and our mind) for a full scale alignment (lots of tracks, phi dependence, different degree of freedom sensitivity, etc..) Plan (short term): Refine the tools and try the misalignment sample
