2 No one partnership is identical to the next
No one partnership is identical to the next. During the Superbowl we partnered with Caltrain to help riders get to and from the stadium using public transportation. We've also partnered with MARTA on a first/last mile campaign to encourage people to promote public transportation and provide easier access to/from MARTA stations. We've also partnered with technology companies such as TransitApp and TransLoc to integrate the Uber API into navigation tools helping riders get information about available transportation options across multiple modes.

3 In just five years - we’re now available in 70 countries and 400 cities around the world.

4 Extending the Reach of Public Transportation
CALTRAIN Riders who were dropped off at one Caltrain station and picked up at another within 3 hours We did an analysis of Uber trips near Caltrain stations, and found an interesting pattern. Some riders may even be using Uber to connect both the first and last mile of their journey. This map shows trips by riders who were dropped off near a Caltrain station and then picked up at a difference Caltrain station within 3 hours, even stronger evidence that riders are using Uber to fill the first/last mile gap.

5 A Ride When You Need it - Late Nights and Weekends
We looked at the data in LA, and found a trend consistent with the study’s findings. This visual shows patterns in Uber requests hourly over the course of a week in Los Angeles. The greatest number of requests are in the evenings and late at night on the weekends, peaking during periods when public transportation services are winding down.

6 Great Service in Suburbs and Lower Density Areas
As we scale, our service expands further out beyond the central core of a city, cultivating new mobility options that extend further and further from urban centers over time. Riders experienced low wait times for Uber rides in the urban core over the past few years. This map shows areas with average wait times of under 5 minutes and under 10 minutes in January 2013.

And now in 2016, Uber riders and partners are connecting throughout the southern California region.

8 UberPOOL - sharing a ride is catching on
Nearly 40 cities with UberPOOL around the world More than 100 million shared rides have been completed since launch, with over 20 million now being completed each month in China alone 90 million vehicle miles saved just in the first few months of 2016 More than 3 million Uber users chose uberpool for their first trip – socializing people to shared rides as the new normal. On any given day, many people connecting to transit on their day to day commutes have a “lookalike” trip—a trip that starts near, ends near, and is happening around the same time as another trip. Most of these trips transport 1-2 people, leaving 2-3 empty seats. With uberPOOL we can match those lookalike trips together. Riders share the cost between them while adding only a few minutes of time per trip. And drivers spend more time per hour earning money on longer trips—without the downtime between passengers.

9 Pinellas Suncoast Transit Authority (PSTA)
First ever partnerships with an agency directly supporting a ridesharing company for first and last mile trips. “Once we make it easy for someone to get to the bus stop, riding the bus becomes a real transportation alternative” – Brad Miller, CEO for the PSTA. The Pinellas Suncoast Transit Agency launched a pilot program to subsidize Uber fares to/from the bus stops to solve the first-mile / last-mile problem in Pinellas County, Florida. As part of the pilot program, the transit agency will subsidize 50% of the Uber rides to/from the stations. This is a first of its kind partnership where public funding will be used to pay for the county's Uber trips.

10 Pinellas Suncoast Transit Authority (PSTA)
Through the partnership, locals are able to log in to Uber, enter a promotional code, and receive discounts when using Uber to connect to the transit system, making multimodality easier and more convenient.

11 ParkMerced May 2016 This first-of-its-kind partnership with a residential developer Encourage new residents in San Francisco’s Parkmerced community to leave their cars behind by providing them with a $100 monthly stipend toward multimodal transportation, including Uber and public transit. Also capping uberPOOL fares to and from nearby public transit stations at $5.

Global Mobility Policy Lead As Uber’s Global Mobility Policy Lead, Andrew focuses on making Uber an integral part of the future of urban transportation through research, partnerships, and policy development. He holds a Bachelor of Civil Engineering degree from McGill University and Master in Urban Planning degree from Harvard University. Paige Tsai Partnerships Lead, Public Transportation Paige joined Uber’s Policy Insights and Research team in January 2016, and focuses on the future of mobility and transportation. As part of her work, Paige helps local teams foster collaboration with public transit agencies to improve access to transportation for people living in and around cities. Prior to joining Uber, Paige worked at Dropbox on the communications team. Paige holds a B.A. in Psychology from Princeton University.
