The Queen arrived in a horse-drawn carriage for a 90th birthday extravaganza in the grounds of Windsor Castle. The celebration featured 900 horses, performances from a dazzling line-up of singers and narrations by A-list actors. Also attending were the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, Prince Harry, Prince Charles and the Duchess of Cornwall.

The Queen arrived at the Windsor Castle performance ring in a horse-drawn carriage, accompanied by Prince Philip.

As the Queen stepped off the Scottish State Coach, she was met by her son, Prince Charles, who took her hand to kiss.

The Queen was greeted with a kiss on the cheek by her son Prince Charles as she arrived at the glittering televised event.

Acts from around the world were invited to perform at the birthday event, which kicked off with a gun salute (pictured).

The Queen is the only member of the royal box who doesn’t seem shocked by the thunderous artillery salute that kicked off the show.

Prince Philip jokingly covered his ears as the birthday extravaganza got underway.

The Duke of Edinburgh and the Duchess of Cambridge laugh following his joke as the Queen watches the proceedings.

The Duchess of Cambridge was seated next to the Duke of Edinburgh, with the pair seeming to enjoy a series of jokes.

The Duchess of Cambridge wore a white dress and kept warm from the chilly night by layering a red cape coat over the top.

The Queen's granddaughter Lady Louise Windsor took part in the parade of horses alongside her father, Prince Edward.

Also riding in the show to celebrate the Queen's birthday were Princess Anne, left, and her daughter, Zara Tindall, right.

Princess Anne smiled to the crowd as she made her way into the arena on her white horse.

Many said the highlight of the night was the small white pony performing tricks to the Kylie Minogue hit.

The Queen looked delighted during the performance by the horses and ponies and was snapped smiling and clapping along.

Singer Jess Glynne performed her hit song 'Hold My Hand' as all of the performers made their way back to the arena.

The 90th gala celebration also featured over 900 horses, who trained for many weeks for the equestrian performances.

The Royal Cavalry of Oman performed with their horses at the event, which also marked the last night of the Windsor Horse Show.

The horses and their riders turn to face the royal box, where they wave to the royal family watching the birthday performance.

At the end of the show, a giant birthday cake was brought into the middle of the arena to honor the Queen.
