2. 2 2012 MPO Public Involvement On June 10 th 2011, the MPO Board approved the Updated Public Involvement / Participation Plan. The PIP supports and encourages public involvement in the planning process. The PIP is designed to ensure opportunities for the public to express its views on transportation issues and to become active participants in the decision making process. 2

3. 3 2012 MPO Public Involvement During the FHWA Federal Certification, the review team commended the MPO for its efforts with regard to public involvement. They specifically commented on: –The New MPO Website –The Quick TIP –New MPO Member and Committee Member Orientations –The MPO Road Show –Interaction at CAT / ATM Operations Meetings The MPO staff has assembled the results of all of their activities throughout 2012 and incorporated them into this PowerPoint. 3

Mass mailings and mass e-mail distributions to have a maximum 2% return rate. 2012 In 2012, the MPO Board or MPO Staff were the focus of over 15 newspaper articles and 3 Letters to the Editor In 2011, the MPO Board or MPO Staff were the focus of 8 newspaper articles and the focus of one Fox News Story In 2010, the MPO Board or MPO Staff were the focus of 18 newspaper articles In 2009, the MPO Board or MPO Staff was the focus or was quoted in 25 newspaper articles and one feature on the Lee Pitts Live Show. In 2008, the MPO Board was the focus of 22 newspaper articles. The MPO conducted two mass mailings of the MPO newsletter. The MPO is continually working to meet the goal of an under 2% return rate. 8 8

In 2012, the MPO responded to 45 inquiries requesting detailed explanations of various MPO documents or functions. In 2011, staff responded to 35 inquiries In 2010, staff responded to 23 inquiries No surveys were conducted in 2012. 10

11. 11 Distribution of Information (Continued) GOAL Host MPO orientations for new members and gain positive feedback afterward from the participants. Web site statistics is to have 150,000 hits per year. Use of the MPO Logo. 11 2012 MPO staff hosted 6 orientations. Staff received all positive comments. In March, the MPO hosted an LCB member orientation during the committee meeting. XThere were 23,489 hits and 5,022 visits. X The new website calculated hits differently and staff is working with the new data to streamline and modify this goal. The MPO makes every attempt to place the logo on all products, publications and materials for all MPO sponsored activities.

16. 16 Committee Member Attendance One of the “Best Practices” noted by the federal review team during certification was the reporting of attendance at committee meetings. The following slides are charts for each MPO committee and the representation / attendance at each meeting. This is meant for informational purposes to demonstrate what geographical areas of the MPO are being adequately represented in committee meetings. 16

17. 17 CAC Attendance 17 In 2012, the CAC held 10 meetings and attained a quorum at 100% of those meetings. In 2011, the CAC held 10 meetings and attained a quorum at 80% of those meetings. In 2010, the CAC held 13 meetings and attained a quorum at 77% of those meetings. In 2009, the CAC held 14 meetings and attained a quorum at 86% of those meetings. NOTE: all vacancies are highlighted in yellow.

The TAC attained a quorum at 100% of their meetings since attendance was tracked for these presentations.
