Ruth Pordes, March 2010 OSG Update – GDB Mar 17 th 2010 Operations Services 1 Ramping up for resumption of data taking. Watching every ticket carefully. Planning web-service interfaces between GOC and BNL-RT (In test) and FNAL-Remedy(in development). Will allow better monitoring and automated checking of the services. Interested in more succint/informative text in ticket emails throughout. How should CMS savannah ticketing system interface? We have had an operations change freeze for the past month. We are putting in place “ITIL-like” change management processes with written change plans. We prioritize the changes and only those agreed to by the project (project WLCG, Production, Project and Executive) management are made.

Ruth Pordes, March 2010 Security Activities Moving ahead to provide desktop certificate management tools in OSG environment. Will build on NGS and NIKHEF tools. Mine will be at April EUGridPMA to follow up on this. Security alert at US CMS Tier-3 over the weekend. Lots of time spent looking at accounting logs, understanding “new job submissions” and looking for anomolies. Good follow up with VO security contact. Understand CERN policy is no contact on weekends?? Action item is to get local site security team in the loop – no response to date. Will use this for lessons learned for future occurences. Following up on Austria CA expiration that affected Fermilab US CMS Tier-1 FTS service on Tuesday. 2

Ruth Pordes, March 2010 Installed Capacity. All sites are reporting KSI2K and TB data but only 2 - BNL and AGLT2 (ATLAS T2) - are reporting HS06. T2 coordinators for both ATLAS and CMS have agreed to start working with their sites to review the existing data and add the HS06 data. The T2 coordinators get a weekly email report containing our view of their sites. The OIM/MyOSG based installed capacity mechanisms are deployed and in use.Local OSG report in place. We are under the working assumption that our interface meets all requirements that WLCG has. Any issues please submit a ticket (asap)! Here are the concerns: - Please can we have a machine-readable URL to verify our data in WLCG. We have one for RSV/SAM, and the daily comparison report was well-recieved by our stakeholders. - Who is the best "current" contact? -Is the gstat link the current best place to see the WLCG reported results? 3

Ruth Pordes, March 2010 Other news 4 OSG All Hands Meeting March 8-11 th. Many ATLAS, CMS, Tier-3 meetings. Useful presentation from Markus, James, Massimo, Alberto. Thank you! Initial technical discussions between OSG and Magellan (DOE Cloud testbed) and FutureGrid (NSF Cloud testbed). Activity will ramp up over the next six months. Getting ready for 40 more Tier-3s with ARRA funding – hardware only. Will register distributed system services in OIM/OSG so we can track security, help support common services, help with s/w stacks and evolution. First distributions of VDT with native packaging for LIGO completed. Glexec next on the list.

Ruth Pordes, March 2010 Futures 2 proposals that would provide support for MyOSG maintenance and continued development submitted to NSF in February. Will know about proposal which would look at wide-area Lustre together with TeraGrid will be known within a month or two. US ATLAS/US CMS/OSG delivered “Assessment of Core Services provided to U.S. ATLAS and U.S. CMS by OSG” and clarification to DOE/NSF. 5
