2 NAME AND FAMILY Publius Cornelius Scipio Africanus. His brother was Gnaeus Father-in-law- Was Lucius Aemilius Paullus Father was Titus Sempronius Longus

3 IMPORTANT MOMENTS IN HIS LIFE. 218 B.C.- Fought under his father at Ticinus. 216 B.C.- Survived the battle of Cannae. 211 B.C.- Elected to proconsulship in Spain, upon the death of his father and uncle. 209 B.C.- Conquered New Carthage—established reputation as a great general 205 B.C.- Elected consul. Tried to go to Africa, but prevented by enemies in Rome 204 B.C.- Went to Africa, and allied with Numidians against Carthage. 202 B.C.- Hannibal returned to Africa to fight Scipio at the battle of Zama. 183 B.C.- Retired to the country outside Rome.

4 HOW AND WHEN SCIPIO LIVED. Scipio Africanus was born in 236 B.C. He died in 183 B.C. He lived a war filled life and went through a lot of wars and had alot of loss of family. He died

5 STORY ABOUT SCIPIO AFRICANUS There is a famous story told of a beautiful maiden who was brought to him after a great battle. Instead of taking her for himself he returned her to her family and fiancé, thereby winning himself a reputation for justice and mercy among the Spanish population.
