Promised yourself, “I’ll stop procrastinating tomorrow”? Been so worried about doing a task that you couldn’t do something that you were already scheduled to do?

3 Putting things off until a future time What makes you procrastinate? Why do we do it? Overwhelmed with so much responsibilities and tasks Not clear about expectations Lack of interest Fear of not doing well

4 Scenario: It is the first day of your Public Health C129 (The Aging Human Brain) class and the professor assigns a 20-page research paper that is due in one month. How would you approach this?

5 Break down mountains to smaller hills Choose topic Gather sources and conduct research Prepare outline First draft Seek professor or GSI feedback Seek academic support services on campus Final draft Set personal deadlines (and keep them!) Allow for cushion time Use free time wisely

9 Avoid study marathons aka “all-nighters” Sleeping SAVES time Sleep deprivation slows you down during the day Reduces falling asleep in class Reward yourself for finishing tasks on time Schedule time for YOURSELF! Exercise, relax & socialize Don’t worry so much!
