7 Teaching about the Holocaust/Genocide, Prejudice & Bullying Using UDL Lesson Plans: Developed by 10 educators who are teaching this content in New Jersey schools Organized by grade and aligned to our curriculum standards Provide options for embedding multiple means of engagement, action/expression and representation Offer ideas for designing other lessons using UDL principles

8 UDL in Action: Representation Art and Poetry during the Holocaust – Students will learn about the Holocaust by analyzing and comparing: – Written stories – Poems – Music – Artwork – Testimonies

9 UDL in Action: Student Engagement Learning about the Holocaust by analyzing and comparing in a variety of groupings and class interactions: Teacher instruction Small group discussion Literature review Independent reading Video/audio resources

10 Choices for Response/Assessment: – Create a Leaflet about an historical figure – Write a daily Journal entry restating a quote in a students own words/ pictures/native language – Create an imovie on conflict resolution – UDL in Action: Action/Expression
