Matthew 7 : 16 & 20 “ Matthew 7 : 16 & 20 “ 16 By their fruit you will recognize them. Do people pick grapes from thorn bushes, or figs from thistles?” “20 Thus, by their fruit you will recognize them.”

1 John 4:1 1 John 4:1 ”Dear friends, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits to see whether they are from God, because many false prophets have gone out into the world.” 2 Peter 2:1 2 Peter 2:1 ”But there were also false prophets among the people, just as there will be false teachers among you. They will secretly introduce destructive heresies, even denying the sovereign Lord who bought them—bringing swift destruction on themselves.”

24 Jesus told them another parable: “The kingdom of heaven is like a man who sowed good seed in his field. 25 But while everyone was sleeping, his enemy came and sowed weeds among the wheat, and went away. 26 When the wheat sprouted and formed heads, then the weeds also appeared. 27 “The owner’s servants came to him and said, ‘Sir, didn’t you sow good seed in your field? Where then did the weeds come from?’ 28 “ ‘An enemy did this,’ he replied. “The servants asked him, ‘Do you want us to go and pull them up?’ 29 “ ‘No,’ he answered, ‘because while you are pulling the weeds, you may uproot the wheat with them. 30 Let both grow together until the harvest. At that time I will tell the harvesters: First collect the weeds and tie them in bundles to be burned; then gather the wheat and bring it into my barn.’ ”

God will continue to do great things (Acts 2:17) and the devil will still be at work… 2 Tim. 3:13 “… 2 Tim. 3:13 “… while evildoers and impostors will go from bad to worse, deceiving and being deceived.” It’s a spiritual battle and the devil knows his time is running out (Rev. 12:12)

Jesus is the one who sowed the good seed: Christians, “imitators of Jesus”, are the good seed that has been sown in the field, the world, sown among the culture of the day, to influence it. The bad seed, the imitation Christians and non- believers, were left in the field, not uprooted. We, as Christians, are not to isolate ourselves from non- believers, but to infiltrate and influence them. We are to be in the world,, but not of the world, not cheap imitations.

Gal. 1:6-10 and 1 John 2:22 warn that the devil has a counterfeit gospel, counterfeit believers, and anti-christ(s). [also 2 Thes. 2:4]

As light, we are to proclaim the Gospel and do good works, living a godly life, lighting the path that leads others to God’s love. We are light, placed in the world to illuminate the good works of God, so that He will be glorified. We were not “saved” so we can go to heaven, we were saved to tell others about Jesus so we can take them to heaven with us.

Is it our job to identify the “weeds” and yank them out of the ground (church)? No, verse 41 of the parable says that the posers will be weeded out by God. Does this mean we are not to judge? Matt. 7:1-2, we are to evaluate and yet not condemn. We are to be loving people, but that doesn’t mean accept whatever they do, we are to speak the truth in love.

Judgment begins in the house of God. We are to judge according to God’s standard, not our own, to evaluate, not condemn. 1 John 1:8 “I Even Christians can slip up and sin against the Lord. 1 John 1:8 “I f we claim to be without sin, we deceive ourselves and the truth is not in us.” There is no hypocrite free church, there is a difference between hypocrisy and humanity.

You can fool all of the people some of the time, You can fool some of the people all of the time, But you can’t fool God any of the time. One day all we do will be shouted from the roof tops (Luke 12:3). Jesus said the lukewarm Christian would be spat from his mouth… Jesus want to forgive us of all of our sins, to come into every aspect of our lives. Not a ritual, not religious, but a relationship with Jesus Christ, so we can walk with Him.
