1 D Day Lesson starter: 1.What was the Holocaust? 2.Name three groups of people that the Nazis were against.

2 Learning Intentions I will this learn about an important event called D-Day I will understand about what happened on D-Day from a DVD we will watch about this event

3 Success Criteria I have been able to record some basic information about D-Day in my jotter I have been able to take accurate notes about D-Day from a DVD about this event

4 D Day – 6 June 1944 D-Day D-Day was a plan involving the British and American forces in 1944 to invade Europe and attack the Germans in France. The plan worked because the Germans didn’t know where or when the Allies were going to attack.

5 Code named French landing beaches

6 What was the result of D-Day? It took weeks to push the Germans out of France. Eventually months later on May 7 1945, because of having to fight Russia on one side and USA and Britain on the other Germany surrendered. The War in Europe was over.

7 So was the war completely over? NO America had entered the war when Germany’s ally Japan had bombed it’s ships at Pearl Harbour. Japan refused to surrender even after Germany had

8 D Day D Day was a plan to attack the Nazis in _________. The allies (Britain and the USA) landed at five code named _______ on the 14th June 1944.
