Ella Previous: My Two Dogs Next: Tidbits about Ella Ella is a Border Collie/Corgi mix (AKA a Borgi). She takes after her Corgi side more than the Border Collie side.

Tidbits about Ella Previous: EllaNext: Fluff Maintenance She makes a great alarm dog. Her hearing is excellent and she tends to only bark if there is something to bark at i.e. someone at the front door. She does not really know how to whine softly. Instead it comes out more as a scream than a whine. Tends to scare other dogs away. One Veterinarian said she had “cannons” for back leg muscles.

Fluff Maintenance Previous: Tidbits about Ella Next: Tricks Ella has a Corgi fur coat which is to say she sheds ALL YEAR LONG. She has to be brushed weekly and the house has to vacuumed just as frequently to avoid what I call “tumble fluffs”. The picture to the left shows just how much fur can be pulled just after a two week period. Ella is considered a “fluffy” Corgi. This just means that her undercoat grows out longer than most Corgis and makes her look fluffier and very soft.

Tricks Previous: Fluff Maintenance Next: Fun Corgi Facts Ella knows a lot of tricks: Sit Lay down Roll over Sit pretty (sits back on her hind quarters) High five Put ‘em up Speak Tiny bark (she looks like she is barking but little to know sound comes out)

They were bread to heard: Cattle Geese The word Corgi is Welsh for “dwarf dog” Recognized by the AKC as one breed in 1925 and then finally as two separate breeds in 1934. The Queen of England is very fond of Corgis. She has owned more than 30 during her reign. Most of them were direct descendants of her first Corgi. Currently she has 2 Corgis. A popular old myth said that Corgis were the noble steed of the Fairy Folk. Their markings were believed to be a gift from the fairies. It is where their armor and Previous: TricksNext: My Two Dogs

Wally Previous: My Two Dogs Next: Fun Facts about Wally Walter (Wally for short) is a 7 year old Black Lab Mix. He has been apart of my family since he was about 6 months old.

Fun Facts about Wally Previous: WallyNext: Furry Maintenance He has a white mark on his chest that looked like the Bat Signal from Batman until the last few years when it has started to look more like a “W”. He loves to howl at sirens. He even howls in his sleep sometimes. He has an under bite.

Furry Maintenance Previous: Fun Facts about Wally Next: Tricks Wally has the typical Labrador fur. He has two times a year where he sheds either his summer or winter coat. The rest of the year is just a little bit of shedding (compared to Ella that is). The picture to the left is for comparison to the earlier picture of Ella. His coat dries fast because Labs are meant to be “water dogs.” He is not particularly fond of water however.

Tricks Previous: Furry Maintenance Next: Fun Labrador Facts Wally has several tricks that he has learned over the years: Sit Lay down Crawl Stay Leave it Take

Fun Labrador Facts Previous: Tricks Next: My Two Dogs Labradors were originally bred to be the fisherman’s helper: Hauling nets Fetching rope Labs also work as retrievers for hunters, search and rescue dogs and assist the handicapped. The breed almost became extinct in the 1880s Now the most popular breed of dog according to the AKC Labs have webbed toes and have a double coat which makes them essentially waterproof.

Interacting with other animals Previous: My Two Dogs Next: Best Friends Forever They both love other animals. They just want to be friends with everyone and every animal they come in contact with. Ella usually just wants to be petted and Wally wants playtime.
