Continued James Huttons theory of the earth being shaped by rock over geological time

James Hutton:
A Scottish geologist/naturalist
He found out how earth was shaped by rocks
His work made geology a proper science
He believed that earth was alive and should be considered a super-organism

5. Sedimentary rock
A type of rock that is formed by sediment layering on the bottoms of lakes and seas
Sediment is made from plant matter,rock particles,and sand etc.
Sedimentary rock covers most of earth
Some are limestone, sandstone,and chalk

6. Igneous rock
Igneous rock is formed when magma cools down and takes shape.
The molecules in magma are made from pieces of igneous rock
Examples:obsidian,basalt,pumice,and granite

7. Metamorphic rock
Metamorphic rocks are normal rocks that have been changed by extreme heat and pressure
They are found in the deep layers of the earth
Erosion brings metamorphic rock to the surface
Some are,schist,marble,quartzite,and slate

8. Rock facts Rocks are made by minerals,they are naturally generated
On the mhos scale of hardness,diamonds are the hardest and talc is the softest
There are different rock families depending on the element,example: diamond:carbon,Graphite:carbon
Rocks have been used from early weapons to building houses

9. Conclusion
I learned about geologists, I never knew about Charles Lyell and James Hutton.
I picked this subject because I have a big interest in rocks and wanted to learn more.
