2 Four U.S. Air Force personnel died after a military helicopter crashed Tuesday evening near Cley, on the North Sea coast of England. A news release from police in Norfolk said a U.S. Air Force Pave Hawk helicopter from a British base had crashed and the four people aboard were dead. Details on those killed will not be released until next of kin have been notified. An investigation into the cause of the crash is expected to take several days. The RAF base said the crash occurred during an evening training mission while the helicopter was flying low. Cley is about 110 miles northeast of London. According to the Air Force website, a Pave Hawk is a "highly modified" version of a Black Hawk helicopter that often carries a crew of two pilots, one flight engineer and one gunner.

3 In Other News The mighty polar vortex marched down the length of the nation to the Gulf of Mexico is set to back up to Canada. A CNN/ORC poll released Monday showed that 55% of all Americans think that the use of marijuana should be legal - more than triple the 16% who said the same thing a quarter century ago. But according to numbers released Tuesday, the percentage is nowhere near as high as the 81% who say alcohol should remain legal or the 71% who believe that tobacco use is OK. One of the most noticeable faces in skiing released some bad news yesterday. Lindsey Vonn said her knee problems were going to be too much for her to compete in next month's Winter Olympics. "I am devastated,” she said on her Facebook page. The news came 11 months after she hurt that right knee at the world championships. The American champion skier, who's dating golfer Tiger Woods, says she'll have surgery and will focus on strengthening the knee. “On a positive note, this means there will be an additional spot so that one of my teammates can go for gold," Vonn added. The Montana judge, who drew a firestorm of criticism after sentencing a former high school teacher to a month behind bars for raping a 14-year-old girl, is going to retire at the end of the year. China has lifted its longtime ban on video game consoles, opening a lucrative new market for manufacturers including Sony, Nintendo and Microsoft. The State Council said in a statement that it will now allow consoles to be manufactured in the Shanghai Free Trade Zone, an experimental testing ground for economic reform. China had implemented a blanket restriction on the manufacture and sale of consoles and games in 2000, denying gaming companies access to the world's most populous nation. Chinese officials had cited worries over violent content and the potential for moral decay in explaining the ban. With the ban in place, Chinese gamers keen to try consoles were forced to rely the black market to find the latest hardware. Controversial game titles -- which are still frequently banned by the government -- were also available from underground suppliers.
