2. We got the hardware, you need the softwear ► MITOC Rents:  Backpacks  Boots  Crampons, axes, etc... ► You need to have your own:  Clothing (shell, insulating and wicking layers)  Accessories (hats, gloves, goggles, gaiters, etc.)

3. BLING BLING!! ► Outdoor brands are expensive!  Patagonia (aka, Pata-gucci), Arc’Teryx, The North Face, Mountain Hardwear, Etc...  Even REI, EMS!

4. Fear Not! ► There are many ways to get stuff way below retail, including:  Master the Interwebs!  Shop at non-outdoor stores for effective substitutes  Leech off your friends  Buy stuff from other MITOCers  Learn how to make your own gear

5. What you need ► Shell (wind + water proof)  Jacket with hood – coated nylon rain jacket  Double zipper pants – coated nylon rain pants  Mitten/glove shell – coatred nylon  Gaiters – duck tape ► Insulating  Sweater – fleece, wool  Down jacket – 2nd fleece or wool sweater (larger)  Pants – fleece pjs or gym pants  Gloves – wool, fleece  Hat/balaclava – polyester, fleece, wool  Socks – wool (COTTON KILLS) ► Wicking  Top + pants – thermals (smartwool, techwick, etc.)  Sock liners – nylon, polypropylene (helps prevent blisters)
