Hurricanes What is a hurricane? A violent storm that forms over the ocean, with strong winds that move in a circular path.

What damage can occur from a hurricane? Very heavy rains can cause flooding. Winds can also damage buildings. Strong winds can uproot trees. Strong winds can send large objects flying. Hurricanes are dangerous and costly!!!

When does hurricane season occur? For test purposes, it is different from what the book states. From June until the beginning of November

Why did people build lighthouses? To help sailors avoid the rocky coastline that was ahead of them. Do people still use lighthouses today? They now have modern technology to help them locate rocky coastlines.
