Theology of the Body for Teens Chapter 7: Free, Total, Faithful, Fruitful

Four Parts of the Wedding Vows 1.Free:  Have you come here freely to give yourselves to each other in marriage?  “I lay down my life…no one takes it from me” 2.Total:  Have you come here without reservation to give yourselves to each other in marriage?  “Greater love has no man than this, to lay down his life for his friends.”

3. Faithful:  Will you love and honor each other as man and wife for the rest of your lives?  “I am with you always, to the end of the age.” 4. Fruitful:  Will you accept children lovingly from God…?  “I came that they may have life and have it abundantly”

Natural Law The law or purpose that God has “written” naturally into the hearts, minds & bodies of men and women Natural Law concerns what we should do not merely what we can do Just because we are free to choose something (subjectively), does not make it good for us (objectively)

Church Teaching on Homosexuality A man’s body doesn’t make sense without a woman’s body with which to compare it to (and vice versa) Everyone’s body is oriented toward the opposite sex – however, not everyone’s desires are oriented this way Our duty to love & respect those who struggle with same-sex attraction
