“and” Compound Inequalities Graph the following inequalities on a number line. What do you notice about how their graphs interact?

Compound inequality: consists of two inequalities joined by the word “and” or the word “or” When we have a compound inequality that contains the word “and” then the graph is the intersection of the two inequalities So “and”=intersection Important Vocabulary:

“or” union The graph of a compound inequality containing “or” is the union of the solution sets of the two inequalities For these types of problems we will have to solve each inequality separately Now let’s talk about “or”
