In our investigation the salt did not speed up this process we think this is because we did not stir the salt when it went in the test tube. 4 What can we do prevent rust We can paint it. We could galvanise it (like they do on bridges.) We could oil it. For rust to happen we have to take away one of the factors for it to occur e.g. if you galvanise it this takes away both factors Water(H2O) and the Oxygen (O). We can paint it.
