3 Aims To revise and give the students further written and oral practice in all the areas covered in Chapter 1 to 4 (listed below).

4 Structures The present simple with the verb to be. The possessive adjectives my, your, his, her. The demonstrative: this, that, these, those. The determiner many, eg How many…?. The indefinite and definite articles a, an, the. Yes/no questions with the verb to be.

5 Structures (Cont’d) The question words what, who, how, where. The simplest forms of existence there is/are. The simplest forms of presence and absence (not) here, (not) there. Basic prepositions in, on, at, of. Singular and plural countable nouns, eg computer/computers, window/windows.

6 Functions and Concepts Describing basic office furniture and equipment. Describing basic office or place-of-work layout. Describing basic job titles and work relationships. Asking for and providing basic personal information.

7 Functions and Concepts (Cont’d) Exchanging basic greetings and goodbyes in a business context. Recognising basic expressions of gratitude. Writing a short message containing simple information. Using the basic forms of introduction.

Recognising and using the main forms of communication repair, eg How do you spell … ? Recognising some telephone expressions. Using punctuation, eg capital letters, full stops and question marks.

9 Vocabulary To revise and give the students further practice in: Numbers 1 to 20 The basic forms of titles used before names, eg Mr, Mrs, Dr The basic means of addressing others Words associated with the place of work

10 Vocabulary (Cont’d) Job titles The names of office furniture, eg a chair, a filing cabinet The names of architectural features, eg windows. To introduce: Address layout Numbers 21 to 100.
