2. Nadia Com ă neci

3. Nadia Elena Com ă neci,born November 12, 1961 is a Romanian gymnast, winner of three Olympic Gold Medals at the 1976 Summer Olympics in Montreal and the first female gymnast to be awarded a perfect score of 10.00 in an Olympic gymnastic event. She is also the winner of two gold medals at the 1980 Summer Olympics in Moscow.

4. She is one of the best- known gymnasts in the world. In 2000 Com ă neci was named one of the athletes of the century by the Laurelus World Sports Academy. The computer was not prepared for such an experience, so all world saw 1.00 on the screen.

5. She was just a little girl because she was just six years old but from that age she had a lot of qualities to be a gymnast. Nadia started to work with her coaches but after a while, her coach left the country and she needed to work with some others coaches. She was one of the best students from that time and she participated at her first Romanian National Championships in 1969 in 1969. At that moment, she finished her number on the 13th place but she wasn’t sad because it was her first competition and she had to study much more to reacg her goals.

6. Com ă neci is active in many charities and international organizations. In 1999 she became the first athlete to be invited to speak at the United Nations to launch the Year 2000 International Year of Volunteers. She is currently the Vice-Chair of the Board Of Directors of the International Special Olympics. She has also personally funded the construction and operation of the Nadia Com ă neci Children's Clinic, a clinic in Bucharest that provides low- cost and free medical and social support to Romanian children.

7. In the world of gymnastics, Com ă neci is the Honorary President of the Romanian Gymnastics Federation, the Honorary President of Romanian Olympic Committee, Sports Ambassador of Romania, and a member of the International Gymnastics Federation Foundation. She and her husband own the Bart Conner Gymnastics Academy, the Perfect 10 Production Company and several sports equipment shops. They are also the editors of International Gymnast magazine.

8. We, Romanians are very proud of Nadia because she represent us. We believe every gymnast takes her as an example and not only gymnasts, but everyone because she is a perfect model of hard work and determination. We have chosen her because she is the most famous gymnast in Romania and not only.
