Why Are Rules Important?
2
Don’t Do Wherever we are, whatever we are doing, there are rules that help us to behave in an appropriate way.
3
All societies and all communities need to have rules to follow.

6
What other rules must we obey?

7
Are you ready to play my game?
It has one simple rule but, if you don’t keep to the rule, you lose the game.
8
It is sometimes difficult to follow even a simple rule!
Simon Says… To play ‘Simon Says’ … you MUST do what I say if I say ‘Simon says’ and DON’T do what I say if I DON’T say ‘Simon says’. Simon says put both hands in the air! Put both hands in the air! Simon says put one hand in the air! It is sometimes difficult to follow even a simple rule!

Our school has rules for everyone to follow … why?
13
Remember this when you are playing in the playground.
Many nasty accidents can occur if we do not think before we act: a stone that is thrown in anger or a stick waved without thought can do a lot of damage and result in someone getting hurt. Remember this when you are playing in the playground.
14
You need to be aware of dangers to stay safe.
Plants and berries can be poisonous – never eat or drink anything if you do not know what it is. There is no need to be afraid. Be sensible.
15
The ‘Ten Commandments’ are rules Christians believe God told Moses.
God wants people to follow these rules. These rules are written down in the Bible.
16
The Ten Commandments are …
I am the Lord, your God, worship only me. Do not bow down to any idol. Do not use my name for evil purposes. Have one day of rest each week – no one is to work on the Sabbath Day. Respect your father and your mother. Do not kill, or hurt anybody. Husbands and wives should be loyal to each other. Do not steal. Do not tell lies about other people. Do not be jealous of other people’s things.
17
A Time for Reflection We are going to think about the importance of the rules we have in our school and in the games we play and how we live our lives. We think about how important it is to obey rules so that we can all live, work and play together safely and happily.
18
Dear Lord, Please help us to follow the rules that we have in our school. Help us to lead peaceful lives and to help others to be happy too. Help us to think about the rules that we have thought about today and to think how they may be useful in our own lives. Amen
