5 5 Categories Security DetentionSecurity Detention –Current escape risk –Threat to physical safety of staff/offenders –Threat to order and security

6 6 Categories Pre-Hearing Detention (PHD)Pre-Hearing Detention (PHD) –Charged with, suspected of, a disciplinary violation –Presence in population would create a threat to the physical safety of offenders/staff –Necessary to maintain integrity of an investigation

7 7 Categories Protective CustodyProtective Custody –Requires maximum supervision at all times –Requires highest degree of protection –Administrative Segregation status

8 8 Categories Temporary Detention between Consecutive Terms of Solitary ConfinementTemporary Detention between Consecutive Terms of Solitary Confinement –Does not meet criteria for security detention, pre- hearing detention, or protective custody –Sentenced to two or more consecutive solitary confinement terms –Warden/designee determines presence in general population would create a threat

9 9 Levels of Administrative Segregation Level ILevel I –Generally maintaining good behavior –90 days or more of non-assaultive behavior Level IILevel II –Chronic rule violators, but no in-prison assaultive behavior for 90 days Level IIILevel III –Aggressive behavior within 30 days –Current escape risk –Threat to order and security –Threat to others
