4 Competitive Funds Essential needs type projects Grant ceilings –Small City & County $350,000 –Large City $450,000 Typical activities –water & sewer extensions and rehabilitation, –street and drainage improvements, etc. Point scoring system –Nature of Benefits –Local Match –Cost/Benefit Ratio

5 Community Enhancement Fund Quality of life type projects Grant ceiling $250,000 - Grant Minimum $50,000 Typical activities –facilities for fire protection, –senior centers, –boys and girls clubs, –recreational facilities, –community centers, etc.

6 Planning Fund Plan for orderly growth, regional development, & revitalization efforts Grant ceiling $40,000 Typical planning activities –comprehensive plans, –elements of comprehensive plans, –downtown revitalization plans, –regional strategies, etc.

7 Economic Development Fund Eligibility - job creation (retention) ED Grants –infrastructure improvements, e.g., water, sewer, rail spurs, access roads, docks, etc. –ceiling $200,000 (can be waived) –fifteen + jobs / commitment from business –SIC code 20-39 or significant economic impact –local match 20% –no intrastate relocation –no construction prior to grant award or release of environmental conditions
