9 Epidemiology One of the most common congenital birth defects 3% of full term males Risk factors Gestational age ~ 30% incidence in premature infants (< 37 weeks) Weight Decreased intraabdominal pressure Prune belly syndrome, omphalocele, gastrochisis Family history 3.6 fold increase risk; 6.9 fold siblings; 4.6 fold father.
