The Royal College of Midwives

RCM members have voted YES to take industrial action. Join us on Thursday 29 January and Wednesday 25 February 2015 to make your voice heard. Action will take place on both days, subject to cover for safety between 1pm and 3pm. Action short of strike will be escalated to be from Friday 30 January to Tuesday 24 February continuously.

The Royal College of Midwives RCM Workplace Reps will work with your HOM to ensure that contingency plans are put in place so that essential services can continue throughout the stoppage. It is intended that this service is similar to the service provided on a bank holiday.

The Royal College of Midwives During this period of industrial action we are asking RCM members to only agree to work overtime if it is agreed in advance that you will be paid for it. You should claim overtime from your employer using the normal local mechanism for doing so.

The Royal College of Midwives As part of our campaigning work we want to keep a total of how many hours paid overtime you work during this period. We would like you to complete an RCM timesheet recording all time you work over your contracted hours. You should email the completed timesheet to paycampaign@rcm.org.uk.paycampaign@rcm.org.uk

The Royal College of Midwives We are campaigning for: Payment of the 1% uplift for all staff, as recommended by the PRB; An above inflation pay rise for 2015-2016; and A commitment to future pay rises that restore the value of NHS pay.

The Royal College of Midwives We believe that by taking action we can send a strong message that midwives and maternity support workers deserve fair pay. We believe investing in staff in an investment in better care – NHS staff deserve to be fairly rewarded for their hard work.

The Royal College of Midwives Other things you can do: Send an RCM postcard to your local MP and ask colleagues, family and friends to sign too;

The Royal College of Midwives Other things you can do: Send your photos from the week of action to paycampaign@rcm.org.uk or tweet them with the hashtage #nhspay tagging @MidwivesRCMpaycampaign@rcm.org.uk

The Royal College of Midwives Other things you can do: Sign the petition! - it only takes a minute and will make a big difference. You can sign the petition by clicking here: www.change.org/midwives’ www.change.org/midwives
