3. The end of WWII left two countries essentially unharmed; the U.S. and the Soviet Union. Both countries claimed they had the best type of government and both had the Atomic Bomb.

5. Korean War (1950-1953)- The communist country of North Korea invaded U.S. aided South Korea. Space Race (1957-1969)- A competition between the U.S. and the Soviets to prove who was more scientifically intelligent. Cuban Missile Crisis (1962)- For 13 days the U.S. tried to force the Soviets to remove missiles off of Cuba, the U.S. and the Soviets were close to war. Red Scare (1947-1989)- many U.S. citizens were accused of being “reds” or communists.

6. Vietnam War (1964- 1975)- The communists country of North Vietnam invaded South Vietnam. The U.S sends troops aiding S. Vietnam. This was the longest conflict in American History, and ends with America losing the war .

7. By the late 1980s America realizes that the Soviets were not that powerful. In 1989 the Berlin Wall separating East and West Germany comes down. By 1991, The Soviets economy falls apart, the country is divided into separate nations.
