These files have been created as a starting point for you to create your research posters, they include the basic building blocks including typestyles and a sample layout. The layout is not set in stone and you can adjust this according to your content. 1: Which template file should I use? There are various template files available: A1 or A0 size Landscape or portrait formats Simple King’s branding or King’s with King’s Health Partners King’s fonts (KF) or alternative system fonts (AF) 2: Windows and Mac platforms It is important to note that there are some quite significant differences between PowerPoint for Mac and PowerPoint for Windows in regard to preparing files for for print. 3: King’s fonts (KF) or alternative system font (AF) version If using the King’s font (FT) templates it is important to ensure that the King’s fonts are installed both on your and your printer’s computer. You can embed the King’s fonts if you are using PowerPoint on a Windows computer, this means the printer’s computer will not need the King’s fonts installed. Please note you can not embed fonts on the Mac version. More information can be found at http://www.pptfaq.com/FAQ00076_Embedding_fonts.htm If in any doubt about any potential font issues we recommend using the alternative fonts (AF) files as these use universal system fonts. 4: Image resolution Make sure all images are at the highest possible resolution before importing them; this will help ensure that the printed poster reproduces at the best possible quality. Low resolution images may look acceptable on screen but are likely to pixelate when printed. 5: Importing images If using PowerPoint on a Mac ensure the ‘Link to File’ and ‘Save with Document’ options are checked when inserting images. This is done by default with PowerPoint on a Windows machine. 6: Supply your file for print If you are familiar with creating high resolution print-ready PDF files this is the best format to supply your final file to your printer. If you are not familiar with creating high resolution print-ready PDFs we recommend supplying your final PowerPoint file directly to your printer and talking to them about it first.
