2 The Way Forward for the North Presented by Gill Harris – Chief Nurse North Region - NHS England Yorkshire & Humber LSA 22 nd November

3 Background – NHS Mandate 1.Offers women choice of providers. 2.Reduces the incident and impact of post natal depression through earlier diagnosis, and better intervention and support. 3.That every women has a Named Midwife who is responsible for ensuring she has personalised, one to one care through out pregnancy, childbirth and during the postnatal period, including additional support for those who have a maternal health concerns. The Mandate for Maternity supports improvements to the care and experience of women and families during pregnancy and in the early years for their children and asks NHS England to ensure that the NHS:

4 Personalised Maternity Care Dan Poulter – Parliamentary Under Secretary of State for Department of Health has also expressed his support for Personalised Maternity Care and has asked for a project to be set up which will describe: What will good maternity services look like in 2022 when the pledges are fully implemented? What will it look like in the North? 4

5 Reducing Stillbirths Multifaceted Requires collegiate working across communities Every contact really does count! Inextricably linked to deprivation – public health priority!
