Student Expectations (PBIS) B. Gale Wilson Middle Students are proud of their school and demonstrate that is a safe place for students, staff, and visitors. They do this by adhering to an accepted standard of behavior and conduct. These standards are summarized in the R.O.A.R Expectations that are focused on the character traits of Respect, Opportunity, Achievement, And Responsibility.
12
PBIS – Positive Behavioral Interventions and Support The PBIS system is meant to focus on the positive behavior we want BGW students to demonstrate. The goal of the PBIS model is to know what we want to see (positive behavior) teach what we want to see (Wednesday Advisory Lessons), and reinforce the positive behavior when it is demonstrated (ROAR cards, student store, awards). The advisory lessons all middle school students receive are based around the ROAR values (Respect, Opportunity, Achievement, Responsibility) and provide connections between behavior expectations on campus and out in the real world.
13
Student Recognition Students will receive recognition and awards through assemblies for outstanding performance each quarter in the areas of Attitude (ROAR values), Attendance, and Academic Achievement. ROAR Awards are given for students who model positive behavior, Honor Roll Awards are for students with a 3.5 GPA or higher and an Attendance Award is given for being present everyday with no tardies or excused absences/tardies
