3 Maths Exam For both Foundation and Higher tiers: 3 Exams 1 Non-Calculator (1 hr 30 mins) 2 Calculator ( 2 x 1hr 30 mins) Spec: AQA 8300

4 First, make sure your child has access to all the resources they need/want to use for learning Books Paper School text book Past exercise books Revision Guide Work book Past papers – printed Equipment As for maths exam: Pens Pencil and rubber Ruler Calculator Make sure you have your own and that you can use it confidently Protractor Compasses For revision: Highlighters, cue cards, posters Someone to test on key facts Online MyMaths website MoodleMoodle: Online past papers and mark schemes Online revsion videos (Hegarty Maths)

6 Revision Cycle – Target, revise, practise, test 1. TARGET Students have a personal list of particular areas of maths that they need to practise 2. REVISE they should focus on one area at a time recording key facts on cue cards 3. PRACTISE the topic using questions from mymaths, or revision workbooks 4. TEST: do an exam question and mark it

11 Tip: Understand the LANGUAGE of EXAMS. Make sure you know what the question is asking. These are just some of the most the common words used in exam questions. Find the rest. Do you know what they all mean? Make sure you know how to answer a question that contains these words
