WELCOME TO THE JACKSON STREET CHURCH OF CHRIST PLEASE TURN OFF CELL PHONES

Hebrews 4:14-16 Seeing then that we have a great High Priest who has passed through the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold fast our confession. 15 For we do not have a High Priest who cannot sympathize with our weaknesses, but was in all points tempted as we are, yet without sin. 16 Let us therefore come boldly to the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy and find grace to help in time of need.

LORD HELP US!

A.Matthew 15:21-28 Canaanite woman with demon-possessed daughter… 25 Then she came and worshiped Him, saying, "Lord, help me!" B.Mark 9:17-24 Man with son who had a mute spirit… 22 And often he has thrown him both into the fire and into the water to destroy him. But if You can do anything, have compassion on us and help us." C.When we experience difficulty here on earth, we have a Savior who will help.

LORD HELP US! D.He is not a spectator; He has participated in human life on earth; John 1:14 And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we beheld His glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father, full of grace and truth. E.He has been through the human experience. Philippians 2:7 but made Himself of no reputation, taking the form of a bondservant, and coming in the likeness of men. F.Now He is in heaven, at the right hand of God to help (aid) His people. How does He help us?

I.JESUS HELPS US BY DELIVERING US FROM SIN A.Ephesians 1:7 In Him we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of His grace B.2 Corinthians 6:1-2 We then, as workers together with Him also plead with you not to receive the grace of God in vain. 2 For He says: "In an acceptable time I have heard you, And in the day of salvation I have helped you." Behold, now is the accepted time; behold, now is the day of salvation.

II. JESUS HELPS US BY HIS EXAMPLE A.1 Peter 2:21 For to this you were called, because Christ also suffered for us, leaving us an example, that you should follow His steps: B.Philippians 2:5 Let this mind be in you which was also in Christ Jesus,

III. JESUS HELPS US BY HIS TEACHINGS A.Matthew 7:29 for He taught them as one having authority, and not as the scribes. B.John 12:47-48 And if anyone hears My words and does not believe, I do not judge him; for I did not come to judge the world but to save the world. 48 He who rejects Me, and does not receive My words, has that which judges him--the word that I have spoken will judge him in the last day.

IV. JESUS HELPS US THROUGH PROVIDING A HEAVENLY HOME FOR US A.John 14:3 And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you to Myself; that where I am, there you may be also. B.1 Peter 1:3-4 Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who according to His abundant mercy has begotten us again to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, 4 to an inheritance incorruptible and undefiled and that does not fade away, reserved in heaven for you,

V. JESUS HELPS US THROUGH HIS ATTITUDE OF COMPASSION, CARE AND MERCY A.Hebrews 2:17 Therefore, in all things He had to be made like His brethren, that He might be a merciful and faithful High Priest in things pertaining to God, to make propitiation for the sins of the people. B.1 Peter 5:6-7 Therefore humble yourselves under the mighty hand of God, that He may exalt you in due time, 7 casting all your care upon Him, for He cares for you.

VI. JESUS HELPS US THROUGH HIS INTERCESSION ON OUR BEHALF A.Hebrews 7:25 Therefore He is also able to save to the uttermost those who come to God through Him, since He always lives to make intercession for them. B.1 Timothy 2:5-6 For there is one God and one Mediator between God and men, the Man Christ Jesus, 6 who gave Himself a ransom for all, to be testified in due time, C.1 John 2:1 My little children, these things I write to you, so that you may not sin. And if anyone sins, we have an Advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous.

VII. JESUS HELPS US IN OUR TEMPTATIONS A.Hebrews 2:14-18 Inasmuch then as the children have partaken of flesh and blood, He Himself likewise shared in the same, that through death He might destroy him who had the power of death, that is, the devil, 15 and release those who through fear of death were all their lifetime subject to bondage. 16 For indeed He does not give aid to angels, but He does give aid to the seed of Abraham. 17 Therefore, in all things He had to be made like His brethren, that He might be a merciful and faithful High Priest in things pertaining to God, to make propitiation for the sins of the people. 18 For in that He Himself has suffered, being tempted, He is able to aid those who are tempted.

VII. JESUS HELPS US IN OUR TEMPTATIONS B.1 Corinthians 10:13 No temptation has overtaken you except such as is common to man; but God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted beyond what you are able, but with the temptation will also make the way of escape, that you may be able to bear it.

IS THE LORD THERE TO HELP YOU? A.Now, what kind of problem do you have? B.Do you suffer under the guilt of sin? C.Are you under the pressure of some specific temptation? D.Have you been trying to serve God through the doctrines and commandments of men? E.Are you having trouble coping with daily pressures of life – physical, emotional, domestic pain? F.You cannot name any problem that Jesus cannot help you handle!

IS THE LORD THERE TO HELP YOU? G.And this doesn’t mean He will suddenly make all the troubles go away. H.Remember, there will be storms (Matt. 7:24- 27), but with Him at your side, you will survive. I.Come to Him in obedience and stay there; He will help! J.Matthew 11:28-30 Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. 29 Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. 30 For My yoke is easy and My burden is light."
